Class Exercise:
We watched info on radio 1,
in this we saw the radio 1 studio, we also met,Zain Lowe, Colin and Eadith,
Alex Jones, Rod McKenzie, Nately Jamenson,
Andy Brown, Georgina Bowman, Julian Payne....
The history of radio 1 began back in 1920 were they played classic music because they
were trying to reach the upper class people of Britain.
then in 1964 a radio station being transmitted off a boat just offshore.. this was reaching the younger more youthful people of the UK, this was a huge success; their for radio1 had to modernise,in 1967 they came up with the 3 stages;
Home, Light, 3rd
I'm not really sure what they all mean but i know that the "light" broadcast is mainly for "day time" IE: to reach its new target listeners - who are between 16 - 30 Average.
People:
Zain Lowe - hosts a night time DJ show and hosts a chat room at the same time, that way people can text in and get to hear the music they want (or they can go on the chat room and chat to other listeners)
Colin and Eadith - they hold a show between 12-4pm in this show they interact with the general public: IE: playing games with them so they can win prizes. Again they allow people to text or phone in so again they keep the public involved.
Alex Jones - This man is the head of the music department, he has the final say over what music will be played on the day/week, this is if it is relevant to the show.
Rod McKenzie - This is the News Editor: he edits the news so that it is relevent and also informative for the expected age group the radio is trying to approach.
Nately Jamenson - Assistant News Editor.
Andy Brown - Reporter, he goes out in to the city's and finds story's, reads the magazines to find out good gossip etc.
Georgina Bowman - She is the news reader, she tells the story's that have been put in front of her also tells the traffic reports for the whole of UK.
Julian Payne - she deals with the press and publicity of the public: for example - if radio1 was playing at T in the Park, she would have to go out and make sure the venue can hold their gig stand and then put out fliers etc so people know about them being there.
In my opinion this was a very informative (long!) video, learned allot about the history about radio1 and what everyone does there at the station. i also enjoyed the entire "film"
